Our team has a meetup with Cluj Mathematics and Informatics Students in every season, thanks to the Codespring Mentoring Program and the partnership with Kocka Reverse students organization. The last meetup with Cluj mathematics and informatics students, from Babeș-Bolyai University, took place in December 2024. The students from the first year of study, their teachers and mentors were invited by the organizer, the Kocka Reverse team, to an informal get-together in Șuncuiuș, in Apuseni Mountains.

Our colleagues presented the Mentoring Programme at Codespring | Softech, the alternative study line where students, assisted by a mentoring team, can learn software development. The  high quality level of this programme is guaranteed by software developers with significant academic background and actively involved in research programs.

Codespring team usually has  their first meetup with Cluj Mathematics and Informatics students from Babeș-Bolyai University and Târgu Mureș based students from Sapientia University, at the moment of their enrollment in the Mentoring Program, in their first year of study. We can call these courses a  “preparatory” module, designed for freshmen: they will be exposed to cutting-edge technologies that will contribute to the high quality of their individual and group university projects.

By their second year, when they feel at home in our offices in Cluj or Târgu Mureș, they already feel as part of our community and they are more confident in debating all the  professional questions, often leading to creative solutions. Alongside the university-studies, the Codespring Mentoring Programme will continue to focus on deepening knowledge and gaining practical experience.

An integral part of the Codespring Mentoring Programme is the summer internship, where each student can start working on a project of their choice. Following the good practice of previous years, this intensive two-month period is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to develop a software  application – under the supervision of their mentors. The knowledge and experience gained during their second year in the program is followed by the preparation of scientific papers for  student conferences and then, by the final paper for the the university degree.

Marketable skills for the programmers of the future

All math and informatics students who commit to the Codespring Mentoring Programme will gain valuable hands-on experience  and  industry-specific knowledge during their alternative studies in the program. By the way: we are extremely proud that the graduating students usually start their career as software developers by joining the Codespring team.

Kocka Reverse – Meetup with Cluj Mathematics and Informatics Students every week

Students from the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the Babeș-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca have built a creative online community during the pandemic. Since 2021, Codespring supports the students’ organization , and as a sponsor we have maintained an excellent partnership for the last 3 years.

The Kocka Reverse students’ organization, attracts an increasing number of students to showcase “the other side” of geeks. They organize events such as freshmen balls, freshmen camps, board game nights, quiz nights, film clubs, and engaging discussions with teachers and alumni. These activities highlight credible career paths for aspiring software developers, whether in academia or the IT industry.
