Transylvania IT students had a new opportunity to challenged there knowledge in app development during the most recent Hackathon from Târgu Mureș. The Make IT Easy Hackathon was held at Sapientia Târgu Mures University, department of informatics and mathematics, two weeks ago. The teams were composed of both undergraduate and master students. During the 48 hours allowed, the teams had to complete a project related to the selected topic: Create the best version of yourself!.
Make It Easy Hackathon: Topics, Teams, Jury, Colleagues
The Hackathon was organized at Sapientia University in Târgu Mures, between the 28 of February and the 2nd of March 2025. The competition was attended by 12 teams, reunited a total of 36 young participants.
We are glad to inform you that among the contestants were also students from our cherished mentoring programme. In addition, that one of our software development colleagues was even part of the official jury team.
Another important aspect regarding this Hackathon is our partnership with the Department of Informatics from Sapientia University, Târgu Mures. It is barely 3 years that we have opened our local development office, yet we have established a fantastic collaboration with this modern university.
Hackathon Winners and Special Remarks
As it is expected, the Hackathon had its own round of 2025 winners.
They were the following:
- first place went to the 3Gs team (Áron S., Edina B., Béla N.),
- second place to the Whitespace team (László Cs., Tamás S., Dávid B.)
- third place to the Undefined team (Ákos Sz., Szabolcs P., Attila Zs.).
On the occasion, we congratulate the winning teams for their effort and talent in framing their project in the given topic. Nevertheless, we also give a around applause to all the IT students who chose to spend a weekend working, putting their brains and skills to test.
Overmore, the 3Gs team received the special prize from CODESPRING, consisting of some very useful IT gadgets and giveaways!
Why Join a Hackathon?
Often students may not find their reasons to participate in to these Hackathons organized in our region. Yet we would like to emphasize that any hackathon, is a very good opportunity to get more insight about working in a team, with deadlines and a little pressure. Sometimes, after the hard work, everything gets to the final pitch. It is the critical moment when each team tries to sell its own project idea or solution.
On the other hand, our colleagues from the software development department get to be exposed to the tremendous creativity and curiosity of the young generation. Everything turns out to be a resourceful experience for both contestants and jury.
