In the 4th quarter of 2013, ANIS – The Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry in Romania has launched the first edition of the “Romanian Outsourcing Index”. The catalogue is a collection of outsourcing companies profile from Romania, namely members of ANIS. In addition, the opening chapters also resume a few interesting facts about the market and its geographical distribution across Romania.
“With IT exports led by software outsourcing companies and R&D centers, our advocacy efforts go in assisting these companies in growing their business and expanding their potential, as we are looking forward to a high-value added services and product-based software industry” declares Mr. Andrei Pitiş – ANIS President.
In the article named “Outsourcing in Romania. A Plea for the Romanian Software Development and Services Delivery Excellence” one may have a glance over the last outsourcing decade in Romania, the impact that the crisis had on the local companies and the main reasons why Romania is sought after as an offshore destination. We also note that according to the same article “Half of the 50 significant offshore centers present in Romania are software development and respectively research & development centers, while the rest consists in BPO and support centers”.
A total of 55 software development outsourcing companies are present in the catalogue. 42% are from Bucharest – the capital city of Romania, while 31% are from Cluj-Napoca – the 2nd city of Romania and the 1st software development export hub of the country, city where Codespring also has its main quarters and operations. The remaining of 27% is represented by companies from the following areas: Brasov, Craiova, Iasi, Oradea, Voluntari, Sibiu, Suceava, Timisoara, Miercurea Ciuc, Targu-Mures.
ANIS represents the interests of Romanian IT companies and supports the development of the software and services industry, as well as the growth of companies involved both in outsourcing projects and in developing proprietary applications.
The association was founded in 1998 and now includes approx. 100 members – companies with both Romanian and foreign capital, small and medium companies as well as multinational ones, with presence in the main technical universities in the country.
ANIS aims to contribute to promoting Romania as a regional leader for software development and established exporter for high quality software products and services. ANIS is also acting as main point of contact for information regarding the industry.
During the last years, ANIS was closely involved, together with other organizations, in creating and promoting abroad the national brand for the IT industry -“romaniaIT – Creative Talent. Technical Excellence”.
Cooperation with both public and private sector partners is the main success factor for many of the association’s projects. ANIS is a member in the Export Council, was involved in CoNaCo – National Competitivity Council and is now represented in the Coalition for the Development of Romania, created by the Prime Minister and coordinated by the Ministry of Economy.
ANIS is also closely involved and has active partnerships with bilateral chambers of commerce -AmCham, Romanian-French Chamber of Commerce, Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce – as well as with commercial representations attached to embassies of the target countries for our industry
